Fighting illegal migration

Illegal immigration is one of the most serious problems facing Greece today. The large number of undocumented migrants sneaking into the country first of all poses a major security issue, but at the same time it raises a number of frequently neglected issues such as high medical costs, clandestine trade and unfair competition for legal workers -- be they Greek or foreign. Greece’s Citizens’ Protection Ministry and several mayors across the country appear determined to solve the problem. However, they are meeting with resistance from various groups as well as political concerns being expressed by a number of parties.
