Leading figure of the Greek diaspora passes away

The first president of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), Andrew Athens, has passed away in Chicago, aged 91. A leading figure of the Greek diaspora, Athens was born in Chicago in 1922 and served as president of SAE since its founding in 1995 and until December 2006, when the 6th World Assembly of SAE unanimously proclaimed him president emeritus.
