NGOs stress need to address humanitarian crisis of migrants

Police involvement in assaults against migrants heavily impedes efforts to hold perpetrators accountable, according to a recent report published by non-governmental organisation PICUM. The report, entitled The Silent Humanitarian Crisis in Greece: Devising Strategies to Improve the Situation of Migrants in Greece, is the outcome of presentations and discussions of a seminar held in Athens in December 2012 and aims to put the humanitarian crisis of migrants in the contex of the economic crisis.
