The Democratic Union organisation of the ethnic Greek minority in Albania (Omonia) has announced its decision to carry out the controversial census of ethnic Greeks in Albania. The group announced that "following the absolute failure of the census process that was carried out by the Albanian state that did not give our community the opportunity to prove its momentum, as it has been shaped after 20 years of freedom and democracy in the country, the initiative by Omonia aims at giving it this possibility".
