Vessel with undocumented migrants intercepted

A vessel containing undocumented migrants, which was spotted on Friday by a helicopter off the Messinian Gulf, was being towed to Pylos port after being incepted by the authorities. The number of passengers on board the vessel is yet unknown. The search for the vessel was launched earlier on Friday when an unidentified individual contacted local authorities and claimed that approximately 100 passengers were on board a vessel in distress sailing near the islet of Venetiko in the Messinian Gulf, off the Peloponnese. Three coastguard patrol vessels and a helicopter were dispatched to search for the vessel.
