Patra migrant camp razed

Greece's tightening immigration dragnet swept the country’s biggest and oldest makeshift camp in the western port city of Patra on July 12 in what opposition lawmakers and human rights groups described as “barbaric”. Police supervised the bulldozing of the shanty town. Hundreds of mostly Afghans had been living in squalid conditions, hoping to sneak onto ferries bound for Italy.
