Who's paying for a mosque in Athens?

The government has vehemently denied press reports that Turkey will pay for the construction of a mosque in Athens after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reportedly offered to foot the bill during a recent meeting with Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. Addressing parliament, Deputy Foreign Minister Kostas Tsiaras said: “It goes without saying there has been no such agreement.”  He said the construction of the planned mosque in Athens, based on legislation passed in 2011, will be completely funded by the Greek state.
