Earlier on Monday police arrested members of an alleged criminal ring exploiting illegal migrants using a central Athens mobile phone shop as its cover. Allegedly the activities of the ring, which abducted migrants and coerced them into paying large sums in order to arrange their passage to other European countries, were uncovered following a complaint lodged by Afghan migrants to police.
