December jobless rate dips to 26.4%

The country's monthly jobless rate dipped marginally in December 2012, according to figures released on Thursday. The Hellenic Statistical Authority, ELSAT, which provides the European Union's statistical arm Eurostat with monthly employment figures, noted that the seasonally adjusted jobless rate in December 2012 was 26.4% compared to 21.4% in December 2011 –  down marginally from 26.6% in November 2012. The youth unemployment rate (15-24-year-olds) in December 2012 reached 57.5%.
