Evros border fence due in September

Civil Protection Minister Christos Papoutsis says a 10-kilometer fence costing 3m euro will be ready in September, two months later than originally planned, and would seal off Europe's busiest crossing point of illegal immigration. Papoutsis said work on the twin fence filled with four-meter-high razor wire would start in Μarch and be bolstered with a network of night-vision CCTV cameras spanning a small land-border stretch of Greece's 200 kilometre frontier with Turkey, most of which is formed by the Evros river.
