Truck driver arrested

A 43-year-old truck driver was arrested and 40 illegal migrants were detained after the migrants were found hidden in cardboard boxes in his truck in the port city of Igoumenitsa. A police search of the truck, due to board a ferry for Italy, turned up the illegal migrants, all of them young men from Afghanistan, hidden inside cardboard boxes. Similar boxes filled with PVC plastic were piled up in front of the boxes with the migrants in an effort to evade detection by port authorities.
