Cyprus to become EU outpost against illegal immigrants

As a consequence, Cyprus has boosted its coastal defenses and detection network as part of a concerted EU effort to stem illegal immigration which has caused tensions in Britain, France and Germany — countries where many of the immigrants have headed. With the EU’s furthermost eastern border and proximity to the Middle East, the Mediterranean island expects to come into the spotlight on the illegal immigration issue.
