A changing society, like it or not
Economic immigrants to Greece have never received a good press. In the public mind they have been associated with poverty and crime. Two bus-jackings by Albanians in 1999 and an inept police chase of a Romanian informant that ended in tragedy for the household where he took refuge in 1998, were the highest profile stories seeming to confirm a public perception that foreigners are bad news.
