EU told to improve its human rights record

Amnesty's 2003 annual report documents dozens of cases of alleged human rights violations in Greece, including excessive and unjustified use of force by police. According to the report, two people were shot dead by police officers, allegedly in self-defence. Soldiers on border duty allegedly fired at and seriously wounded two unarmed Albanian migrants trying to sneak into Greece. And foreigners were reportedly denied the right to apply for asylum.
