EU ministers size up migration

Delays in hammering out common policy on asylum and immigration arediscussed during the sixth and final meeting of the Justice and Home AffairsCouncil of the Irish European Union Presidency. Justice Minister Anastasios Papaligouris joined European Union counterparts in Luxembourg to take stock of progress made since the bloc agreed to establish a common asylum and immigration policy in 1999. Some critics, including the EU's justice and home affairs commissioner, say the Union has been dragging its feet.
