Bulgarian woman ‘was abused’

A 35-year-old Bulgarian national alleged to have been keeping a 32-year-old compatriot in an apartment against her will was in police custody yesterday after officers found the woman with her hands and feet bound, abandoned in a forest on the outskirts of Thessaloniki. Police, who said the woman bore signs of physical abuse, are seeking another two Bulgarian men in connection with the woman’s alleged exploitation. It was unclear yesterday whether the 35-year-old suspect faced charges related to physical abuse or forced prostitution.
